She is a nationally recognized scholar of biochemistry education and is co-author of a collection of student-centered activities for use in the undergraduate biochemistry classroom.

As an undergraduate at Grinnell College, 教授. Loertscher studied both chemistry and German literature, earning B.A. 1996年学位. 她获得了博士学位.D. in environmental toxicology working with Dr. Lynn Allen-Hoffmann at University of Wisconsin. The Loertscher group is focused on research to understand and improve student learning in undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry. 教授.
